Export your Nokia Ovi Contacts to any Computer easily!
0
Nokia is discontinuing it’s service Ovi Contacts for general public, The service will stay but you won’t be able to access your address book from the web browser… After January 24, 2012 You will no longer be able to view your contacts on the web.
Syncing & Backup will continue to work normally & you will not loose any of your contacts but you will be unable to view them from the website.

.
The address book of your Nokia handset (I am talking about the new Nokia Phones which are supported by Ovi Store) is stored in the online Ovi Contacts, Same as Android phones use Google Contacts to store your Contacts Online. but Nokia Ovi Contacts has only 1 limitation.

.
Until now, Nokia Ovi offered no export feature so there was no easy way to download your Nokia Phone’s address book from the web to any computer unless you had a Nokia device at hand. The Ovi Suite (Nokia’s desktop synchronization software) didn’t have an export option for Contacts either so your phone contacts were sort-of locked in Nokia’s cloud.

.
Nokia has set up a microsite – exportcontacts.ovi.com – where you can download your entire Ovi address book in the popular CSV format with just a click. You don’t need the Nokia device or the Ovi desktop suite to export your contacts. The CSV file can can then be imported into Google Contacts.
If you are a Nokia user, You have to hurry up, because according to an email from Nokia, the web access to Ovi Contacts will be disable after January 24, 2012.

Nokia N9 focuses on the most important things that people do: use apps, get notifications and switch between different activities. Navigating the UI is done with a simple gesture, a swipe of a finger. Let’s have a closer look at what the Nokia N9 is bringing to the game.

The body of the Nokia N9 is made from unibody polycarbonate material. There are no front-facing buttons at all. You unlock the phone by just double-tapping the screen. The Nokia N9 has the latest Nokia Maps with free, voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation for walking and driving. It will also be NFC-enabled. SWIPE
The team behind the MeeGo-based Nokia N9 brought together elements of industrial design, software development and user interface advancements, as well as a developer platform to create a better way to use a phone. All that’s needed to use the Nokia N9 is a simple gesture, a swipe of the finger. It is an intuitive way to use all the different features and functions. Whenever you are in an application, you just swipe from the edge of the screen to go back home.
UNIBODY DESIGN
The Nokia N9 has a beautiful one-piece, unibody design where the hardware and software fit together seamlessly. The large, 3.9 inch curved glass AMOLED display lets the applications shine and take full benefit of the user interface. Thanks to the innovative laminated display technology, it looks like applications are literally floating on top of the screen. The body of the Nokia N9 is made from the best in polycarbonate material engineering today, enabling superior antenna performance over most other competitors’ smartphones. This means better reception, better voice quality and fewer dropped calls. The Nokia N9 comes in three colours: black, cyan and magenta and with large storage capacities of 16GB and 64GB on the two variants to be made available.
NO BUTTONS
The Nokia N9 is the world’s first pure touch screen phone without any front-facing buttons at all. You unlock the phone by just double-tapping the screen.

THREE HOME VIEWS
The user interface in Nokia N9 is designed around the things people typically use the most. This is why there are three recognizable home views arranged in a carousel: 1) Applications for launching and organizing your apps. 2) Events for social networking feeds and notifications for calls, texts, calendar events, etc. 3) Open applications for switching between all live apps you have used recently. You can pinch and zoom the screen to see either four or nine open app icons. In fact, the Nokia N9 delivers the best multitasking experience on any phone!

HD video and true 16:9 resolution photos are supported. You can share your photos via MMS, email, NFC and many online services including Flickr and Facebook.

FAST WEB BROWSER
The fast web browser is built on the latest Webkit 2 technology. Even while loading a web page, the screen remains responsive. Favourite websites are shown as visual thumbnails, supported by a full browsing history. Wide HTML5 support offers access to rich web applications and fast video playback.

There is also a dedicated Drive app for in-car navigation, which lets you start navigating to your destination instantly after entering your destination. Public transport routing in 85 cities means you can find the quickest route on foot or by tram, metro or train. You can also discover nearby places with cafés, shops, hotels and more, all marked along the way.

DOLBY SOUND
Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus support on the Nokia N9 turns regular stereo audio into personal surround sound on any headphones – first on any mobile phone.

NFC-ENABLED
Pairing between NFC-enabled accessories is easier than ever before – you do Bluetooth pairing only once and after that you can connect to them just by touching. You can also share content like photos or business cards via NFC.
The things that make the Nokia N9 unique – the industrial design, developments in software and user interface, and the ease of developer experience with Qt – will live on in a variety of ways in Nokia. You can go and experience the Nokia N9 for yourself at swipe.nokia.com. The site is full of interactive videos that show how the product works in real life – it is the second best thing to actually having the product in your hand! Everything about MeeGo
1
MeeGo is an open source, Linux project which brings together the Moblin project, headed up by Intel, and Maemo, by Nokia, into a single open source activity. MeeGo integrates the experience and skills of two significant development ecosystems, versed in communications and computing technologies. The MeeGo project believes these two pillars form the technical foundations for next generation platforms and usages in the mobile and device platforms space.

MeeGo includes:
- Performance optimizations and features which enable rich computational and graphically oriented applications and connected services development
- No-compromise internet standards support delivering the best web experiences
- Easy to use, flexible and powerful UI/app development environment based on Qt
- Open source project organization managed by the Linux Foundation
- State of the Art Linux stack optimized for the size and capabilities of small footprint platforms and mobile devices, but delivering broad linux software application compatibility
MeeGo currently targets platforms such as netbooks/entry-level desktops, handheld computing and communications devices, in-vehicle infotainment devices, connected TVs, and media phones. All of these platforms have common user requirements in communications, application, and internet services in a portable or small form factor. The MeeGo project will continue to expand platform support as new features are incorporated and new form factors emerge in the market.
More About MeeGo :
It was first announced at Mobile World Congress in February 2010 by Intel and Nokia in a joint press conference. The stated aim is to merge the efforts of Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo former projects into one new common project. According to Intel, MeeGo was developed because Microsoft did not offer comprehensive Windows 7 support for the Atom processor. Amino and Novell also play a large part in the MeeGo effort, working with the Linux Foundation on their build infrastructure and official MeeGo products. Amino was responsible for extending MeeGo to TV devices, while Novell is increasingly introducing technology that was originally developed for openSUSE, (including openSUSE Build Service, ZYpp for package management, and other system management tools). In November 2010, AMD also joined the alliance of companies that are actively developing MeeGo.
Harmattan, originally slated to become Maemo 6, is now considered to be a MeeGo instance (though not a MeeGo product), and Nokia is giving up the Maemo branding for Harmattan and beyond (Maemo 5, aka Fremantle, and previous versions will still be referred to as Maemo)
There are some NetBooks available in Market which feature MeeGo OS Acer & Fujitsu (The Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 Business Slate), but the most famous product of MeeGo is Newly announced Nokia’s N9 which runs MeeGo

Nokia announces 2 new Dual SIM Phones X1-01 & C2-00
0Nokia X1-01
Nokia today expands its dual-SIM portfolio and throws in its new X1-01, which is looks and feature wise almost similar to X1-00, but this one got dual-SIM functionality. The Nokia X1-01 is a music machine, as evidenced by the massive speaker on the back, which can deliver up to 106 phon. A phon (and you’re forgiven for not knowing – we didn’t until we looked it up on Wikipedia) is a unit of perceived loudness. If you have 106 of them in a mobile device, it’s loud enough to serve as a makeshift home-entertainment system. The speaker has also been specially tuned so that there’s little distortion, even when turned up to eleven. The Nokia X1-01 has in fact got the loudest and clearest speaker Nokia has ever produced!
The device offers support for up to 16GB of storage using the SD card slot – enough for thousands of songs on board. It offers an FM radio, of course, and also an MP3 music player with dedicated music keys and one-click creation of a favourite playlist. The 3.5mm AV jack can be used to plug the output into headphones or even louder speakers. The Nokia X1-01 also has a flashlight on the top. That’s a useful feature for anyone, but especially so if you can’t rely on the power supply or where civic lighting doesn’t exist.
In addition to remembering the settings for up to five separate SIM cards, the Nokia X1-01 also lets you give each SIM its own logo, music signature or ringtone.
Nokia C2-00

The Nokia C2-00 offers a number of additional features. The main one is the way the SIM cards are arranged, offering Easy Swap, a feature that’s only on offer from Nokia. One SIM card is stored internally, like a traditional phone. The second card is easily accessible through a slot in the side – so you don’t have to open or even switch the phone off to change SIMs. This is especially useful for people who want to use more than two SIMs, such as if the phone was to be shared between different members of a family, a group of friends or various community members, for example.
While the Nokia X1-01 runs the Series 30 operating system, the Nokia C2-00 runs Series 40, which offers some key advantages in the form of internet access, a web browser and Nokia Messaging for email. The Nokia C2-00 also sports a VGA camera and allows for MMS messaging. There’s support for up to 32GB of storage using an SD card, allowing users to carry thousands of photos, videos and music files.
